Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord” (John 20:18 ESV)
Those five simple words were Mary’s testimony that first Easter morning.
Should they not be ours as well?
Through everything that goes on at Easter, from cooking to plays to bunnies and eggs to cantatas to sermons, in hurriedness and in quietness, should we not endeavor to say “I have seen the Lord”?
For what do any of our actions or experiences amount to, if we do not see Christ in and through them? The central fact of our lives must be that Jesus Christ was dead, but is now alive, and through the eyes of faith, yes, we have seen Him, yes, we behold Him in His glory and majesty.
May our hearts rejoice as we testify, “I have seen the Lord!”
